Welcome to GFP web site!
GFP – Personal Finance Manager – is a software that aids on personal finances administration offering a variety of reports, charts and filtering data on screen where is possible to obtain important information for your financial health.
The GFP is developed on Java, this way it can be used virtually on any operational system that handle Java Virtual Machine, so you can download a JRE on http://java.com specific for you OS. Mac users should check the Macintosh web site for details.
This is a open source project, this means that the users community participation is relevant to software evolution, if you are a GFP user and want to collaborate by anyway (developing plugin, writing documentation to help beginners, ….) please contact igor4java-gfp@yahoo.com.br

There are 6 months that we don't release a new GFP version, that's because the projects have only one active developer at the moment (me), for the past years many people have contributed to GFP, none of them permanently, on the last 12 months many things have happened to me (second son has born, and suffered a surgery to remove a cancer), so I was unable to keep active development on GFP.
Now I hope to take this duty again! Since I am a GFP user too, for the past 6 years.
On this April month there was publicized a article at one of the most important Brazilian IT magazine about the best finance software (BR Portuguese translated softwares) and GFP was one the five, listed as Free choice. Fo course that some of the GFP characteristics has influenced its choice like the fact that it's open source and platform independent which make it a unique alternative for people that desire to organize their finances and for students that want to learn more about software development.
I am always opened to new contributions and partners to help on GFP development, working for innovations that may make the users life easier.
I will be waiting for contact!

This week the 0.8.0 GFP release is available for download. This GFP version has some new features like the possibility of importing data from OFC and OFX files. Only one account by file is supported.

I hope this will be the last RC before the final 0.8.0 release. We have made some bug fixes and performance enhancements on this release. Now GFP will support more data and perform even more smooth with any data base size (good for heavy users). Please check the release notes for details.
We ask people to test the importing features (OFX and OFC files) and give us feed back about it.
Many thanks to Marcelo Adamatti that gave us a utility class that allow GFP to correctly convert SGML files (OFC and OFX) to XML files with closing tags!

We are back! I was away from a computer for health reasons (surgery) but now I am back and already released to RC build for GFP 0.8.0 with many changes, including import from OFC and OFX files, import data from a Brazilian Bank credit card report. Most of GFP code translated to English (I mean variable, method and class names), this will make the code more understandable for no Portuguese speakers :-)
This release comes with new third part API too, as the new docking window that will make GFP more stable on several operating system. There are a new way used to calculate the current assets value.

Over
the last months we have been working hard (considering my free time)
on GFP 0.8.0 release changes that will came with many news, some are
improvements with parameter request for budget reports, new docking
toolkit – with the goal to offer more stability for GFP we are
migrating to a new docking window toolkit generating much less errors
on GFO log file on runtime. One example of GFP docking window is the
message panel on the screen bottom.
We
are translating all the source code to English os more people can
contribute easily for GFP development. Until now GFP source code have
been in Brazilian Portuguese, as you can see by my misspelling errors
I'm not a native English speaker :-). This “translation” to
English will be as gradual as possible to avoid compatibility issues
with previous BD layouts and plugins. We are working to make these
changes as safely as possible.
We
are adding some import utilities too, that will allow import
transactions from OFC and CSV files, it will be possible for others
developers provide scripted options to import some bank files or even
import transactions from clip board area. The 0.8.0 release will come
with one scripted (java compiled code – yes you can see the source)
that will be a example for others that may want to add its own
features. Most of these changes are already on CVS and I am using
them :-)

we will release the GFP 0.8.0!

We have a new GFP release available for download. That's GFP 0.7.0 that comes with some news.
A plugin that will allow any user to post support request to GFP team, we will receive a email with your post and it will be available on SourceForge GFP project page at Support Request tracker.
Now it's possible to registry on GFP a budget for each category of transaction. And there are reports that will show you how the thing are going about your budget.
There are some important bug fixes too and a good performance improvement regarding to the data base access and about the auto complete of combobox that are much more scalable.
These are the most important changes.

It's available the GFP 0.7.0-RC2 with more some fews bug fix. Note that it is a Release Candidate, it means that we have no intentions to add more features to this release.
These are the new features for 0.7.0 that this release cover:
- In this release we have a plugin that will aid user on posting support requests for GFP Team.
- Better Budget feature
- There are updated for French, Arabic and Spanish translation that now fill almost all GFP features.
This is a quite stable release with possible minor/annoying bugs, please if you find any of these bugs post a bug report
asap, so we can fix it before launch the final release.

This week was released the new JRE version 1.6, GFP runs perfectly on that jvm, until now ours tests haven't yet discovered any error. The unique restriction is about the new GTK look and feel for Linux users. The calendar from the date field can make the GFP crash and lock.
GFP run by default using the Metal/Ocean look and feel and we recommend that Linux users do not use the GTK look and feel.
Any problems that you may find on using GFP with JRE 1.6 please fill a bug report.

There are a new GFP stable release, this version of GFP will only works on JRE 1.5 and use of many improvements of this JRE version.
If you install this release and find any error or wrong behavior please open a support request, so we can analyze it asap.
If you are new to GFP don't forget to check the Tutorial!
